From Inverness, Harry Nicoll’s roles for The Royal Opera include Eryka in L’Ormindo (Shakespeare’s Globe), Master of Ceremonies in The Queen of Spades, Mr Bobo/Ghost Child 2 in Turnage’s Coraline (Barbican), Missail in Boris Godunov, Joe in La fanciulla del West, Goro, Remendado and Don Curzio. He has also performed Rossini’s Almaviva (Opera North, Scottish Opera), Vašek in The Bartered Bride (WNO, Cologne, Tel Aviv), Holy Fool in Boris Godunov (Rome, Tel Aviv), Schmidt in Werther, Don Basilio, Bardolfo, Guillot de Morfontaine in Manon and Goro (Scottish Opera), Brighella and Dancing Master in Ariadne auf Naxos (WNO), Pedrillo (Opera Vlaanderen, Glyndebourne on Tour, Nantes), Nanki-Poo (Opera North, ENO), Monsieur Triquet (Grange Park, Glyndebourne), Spalanzani, Platée, Pirelli in Sweeney Todd and Sellem (Nederlandse Reisopera), Reverand Adams in Peter Grimes (Rome in concert) and Anfinomo in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Grange Festival) and Monostatos and Don Basilio (Glyndebourne). Recent highlights include Gonzalo in Island of Dreams (world premiere) for Grange Park Opera. In the 2025/26 Season, he sings First Priest (The Magic Flute) for The Royal Opera.
