Biography

Helen Withers made her Royal Opera debut in the 2021/22 Season as Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro) and First Bridesmaid under the baton of Antonio Pappano. For The Royal Opera she has also covered Second Niece (Peter Grimes), A Young Shepherd (Tannhäuser) and appeared as a ‘kere’ in The Minotaur. Her career began at Glyndebourne Festival where she covered Idamante (Idomeneo). Other operatic roles include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Palácio National da Ajuda in Lisbon, Clizia (Teseo) for English Touring Opera and Nimmy and Mary (Push!) for Tête à Tête. In concert, she has given solo performances at Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute (Chicago), London Handel Festival, Three Choirs Festival, Barbican Hall, Purcell Room, Handel House Museum, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival and Snape Maltings.
