Biography

Born in Hungary, Henrik Nánási studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He was General Music Director of the Komische Oper Berlin (2012–17). He has worked with orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Fort Worth Symphony, Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Sinfonia Varsovia. For The Royal Opera he has conducted Turandot, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Salome, Simon Boccanegra, Jenůfa, Der fliegende Holländer and Eugene Onegin. Recent engagements included La traviata in Munich, Turandot in Sydney, Werther in Barcelona, Luisa Miller in Hamburg and Manon Lescaut in Buenos Aires. Engagements for 2026/27 include Carmen and Turandot in Vienna and Der Rosenkavalier in Houston.
