Biography

British cellist Hetty Snell graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2012. She has since held orchestral positions with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, before joining the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in 2018. She has performed worldwide, including North and South America, Japan, China and across Europe. Hetty has been invited to perform as guest principal cellist in many orchestras around the country including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. In May 2023, she was invited to play at King Charles’ Coronation in Westminster Abbey. As a chamber musician, Hetty has performed at the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall, and has toured across Europe and Australia. In 2020 Hetty played the solo cello part in the premiere of The Royal Ballet’s The Cellist at the Royal Opera House, to great acclaim.
