Biography

Chinese mezzo-soprano Hongni Wu is a former member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme (2018–20). Recent highlights include Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Crab General/Venus Star (The Monkey King) and Bao Chai (Dream of the Red Chamber)for San Francisco Opera, Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) for Opera North and Santa Fe Opera, Linea (Parabola and Circula) with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Opera National de Montpellier, Angelina (La Cenerentola) for Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa, Dorabella (Così fan tutte) for Pacific Opera Victoria, Comrade Chin and Shu Fung (M. Butterfly) for Santa Fe Opera and Siebel (Faust), Kuchtík (Rusalka) and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) for the Royal Ballet and Opera. Additional engagements include Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for Macau International Music Festival and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Kuchtík for Opera Royal de Wallonie-Liège and Suzuki for Royal Danish Theatre. Engagements for 2026/27 include her Glyndebourne Festival debut as Rosina under Chloe Rooke.
