Biography

British baritone Huw Montague Rendall trained at the Royal College of Music and won Best Newcomer at the 2024 Oper! Awards. His album Contemplation was released on Warner Classics/Erato in 2024. 2025/26 highlights included Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) for Liceu, Barcelona, Bach’s B Minor Mass with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) for Vienna State Opera, Pelléas (Pelléas et Mélisande) for Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Dandini (La Cenerentola) for Paris Opera. Other recent engagements include the title role in Billy Budd for Vienna State Opera, Pelléas for Paris Opera, Count Almaviva for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and his Wigmore Hall debut. Roles for The Royal Opera include Count Almaviva, Papageno and soloist in the Antonio Pappano Gala. Engagements for 2026/27 include Figaro (l barbiere di Siviglia) for Paris Opera, a tour of Bach’s Mass in C with Pygmalion, L'enfance du Christ with the Berlin Philharmoniker, Requiem pour Ophélie for Zurich Opera and Pelléas for the Salzburg Festival.
