Biography

British baritone Huw Montague Rendall trained at the Royal College of Music. Winner of the 2024 Oper! Awards for Best Newcomer, the 24/25 Season saw the release of Montague Rendall’s debut album recording, Contemplation, with Warner/Erato, for whom he is an exclusive recording artist. Other highlights included his house and role debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in the title role of Billy Budd, Pelléas (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the Opéra national de Paris, Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) with Les Musiciens du Louvre, Count (Le nozze di Figaro) at Glyndebourne, and his Wigmore Hall recital debut. Montague Rendall’s 2025/26 Season highlights include Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) at Gran Teatre del Liceu (house and role debut), Bach’s B minor Mass with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Count (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Wiener Staatsoper, Pelléas (Opéra de Monte-Carlo and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra) and Dandini (La Cenerentola) for Paris Opéra (role debut). Previously for The Royal Opera: Count (The Marriage of Figaro), Papageno, and the Pappano Gala. He sings the role of Papageno (The Magic Flute) at the Royal Opera House in the 2025/26 Season.
