Born in the Republic of Korea, Insung Sim studied at the Korea National University of the Arts, at the Vienna Conservatory and at CNIPAL, Marseille. He sings internationally, with recent and future highlights including Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Il Re (Aida) and Fasolt (Rheingold ) at the Royal Opera House; a role debut as Palemon (Thaïs) at La Scala, Milan; Lodovico (Otello) and Pope Leone (Attila) at Teatro Real, Madrid; Timur (Turandot) in Tokyo; Banco (Macbeth) conducted by Noseda at the Zurich Opera House; Ramfis (Aida) in Tel Aviv, Seville and at the St Margarethen Festival, Austria; Bonzo (Madama Butterfly) in Bari; Sarastro (The Magic Flute) in Torino and Montpellier; Vodnik (Rusalka) in Metz; Des Grieux (Manon) at Opera de Tenerife; King Heinrich (Lohengrin) at Opera de Oviedo and Mozart’s Requiem in Granada and Malmo.
