Biography

Italian dancer Ivan Malaguti joins The Royal Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers programme at the beginning of the 2026/27 season. 

Born in Parma, Italy, Ivan began his ballet studies aged eight at Professione Danza Parma, under the guidance of Lucia Giuffrida and Francesco Frola. He took part in many competitions including the Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) and the Prix de Lausanne, where he was offered a position at The Royal Ballet School’s Upper School in 2023. 

Performances whilst at the School include leading roles in Anthony Dowell’s Aurora’s Wedding, Peter Wright’s Swan Lake Act III, Christopher Wheeldon’s Christening Suite and David Bintley’s Beauchamps Garden. He also performed in Frederick Ashton’s La Valse and Les Patineurs, Kenneth MacMillan’s Balcony pas de deux from Romeo and Juliet, Gemma Bond’s Assemblage and Hannah Joseph’s Gridlock.  

As a student, he also performed with The Royal Ballet in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Giselle and Mayerling.
