Biography

Mezzo-soprano Jingwen Cai joined the Jette Parker Artists Programme in the 2024/25 Season. Cai studied at South China Normal University and at Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Awards include the Golden Bell Prize for the 12th China Music Golden Bell Award Vocal Competition, Silver Award at the First International Vocal Competition of Chinese Art Songs, First Prize at Ningbo International Vocal Competition, First Prize at Bologna International Vocal Competition, Second Prize at the Renato Bruson International Competition and Second Prize and Best Potential Prize at I°Concorso Canto Lirico Internazionale Beniamino Gigli Sezione Italia. She has performed Beethoven’s Symphony no.9 with the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra, Verdi’s Requiem with the Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra and roles including Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Wang Xiaoyan (The Song of Youth) and the Female Singer (Regret for the Past).  2024/25 Royal Opera roles include Flora Bervoix (La traviata), Barena (Jenůfa), Mércèdes (Carmen) and Siebel (Faust).
