Biography

From Copenhagen, he is a member of the Royal Danish Opera, where roles have included the title role in the world premiere of Abrahamsen’s Snedronnigen, Richard Nixon (Nixon in China), Marsk Stig (Drot og Marsk), Klingsor (Parisfal), Jack Rance (La fanciulla del West) and Joseph Roucher (Dead Man Walking). His roles for The Royal Opera include Wozzeck, Orest (Elektra), Jokanaan (Salome), Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride), Theseus (The Minotaur), Barak (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Enescu’s Oedipe and Šiškov (From the House of the Dead). Recent engagements include Wotan in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre (Budapest), Oedipe (Dutch National Opera), Wozzeck (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Hans Sachs (NCPA Beijing, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Danish National Opera), Šiškov (Frankfurt Opera), Orest (Vienna State Opera), Telramund in Lohengrin (Bayerische Staatsoper), Jokanaan and Gregor Mittenhofer in Elegy for Young Lovers (Theater an der Wien) and the title role in Der fliegende Holländer (Finnish National Opera). He is a Knight 1st Class of the Danish Order of the Dannebrog. Engagements for 2025/26 include Scarpia (Tosca) at Royal Danish Opera and the title role in Duke Bluebeard’s Castle and Simone (A Florentine Tragedy) at Staatsoper Hamburg.
