Josef Jeongmeen Ahn

Korean baritone Josef Jeongmeen Ahn joined the Jette Parker Artists Programme in the 2022/23 Season. He is a graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Seoul National University and Mainz School of Music. He also attended the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding and trained at the National Opera Studio. Roles include Marcello (La bohème) at Schloss Weikersheim, Raphaël (L’ancêtre), Teufel (Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren) for Prinzregententheater Munich and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) with Kammeroper Munich. Awards include winning the Richard Strauss Competition (2018), First Prize at the Marmande Competition in France (2019) and Third Prize in the ARD Music Competition in Munich (2021). His Royal Opera roles include Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Angelotti (Tosca), Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), The Hunter (Rusalka), Segeste in the JPAP production of Arminio, Flemish Deputy (Don Carlo), and Baron Duphol (La traviata). 2023/24 Royal Opera House roles include Marullo (Rigoletto), Schaunard (La bohème), baritone soloist for The Royal Ballet (Fauré’s Requiem) and Prince Yamadori.
