Biography
Karen Palmer is an award-winning immersive artist, AI thought leader and futurist working at the intersection of film, artificial intelligence and behavioural psychology. Her work enables audiences to experience the future today through emotionally and visually responsive systems that 'watch you back,' exploring how AI shapes perception, behaviour and human agency. She is the creator of Consensus Gentium, which won the SXSW XR Jury Award and is currently shortlisted for the Annwn Prize, and Ascended Intelligence, which premiered at SXSW 2026 as a next-generation human-centred AI prototype. Her work has been presented internationally at SXSW, Ars Electronica, the British Council and leading cultural institutions including the V&A and PHI Centre. A TED speaker and globally recognised voice in AI and immersive storytelling, she works across art, technology and systems design to develop new models that move from awareness of bias toward the activation of human agency.
