Kirsty McLean

Soprano

Biography

Kirsty McLean is a graduate of Trinity Laban and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She was a recipient of the Draper’s Hall Baroness de Turkheim Scholarship and was supported by the Henry Wood Hall trust. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist and a Wigmore Hall Young Artist and has worked at many opera companies across the UK, including Glyndebourne and English Touring Opera. Her Royal Opera roles include Girl in Trouble in Tahiti and Quartet in A Quiet Place in the Linbury Theatre's Bernstein double bill directed by Oliver Mears and conducted by Nicholas Chalmers, cover Markéta in Kaija Sariaaho's Innocence and Jana in Jenůfa, alongside Asmik Grigorian’s title role and conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. McLean also enjoys a varied career as a classical-crossover artist, performing worldwide from onboard Luxury Cruise Liners to private resorts in the Maldives. Engagements for 2024/25 include cover Ines for Il trovatore at The Royal Opera, in the summer.
