Biography
Kurt Mitterfellner was born in Germany in 2004 to Russian and Austrian parents and grew up in Switzerland. He began piano lessons at the age of five before turning to the violin. At ten, he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Lausanne. He won two first prizes at the Swiss Youth Music Competition (SJMW), as well as first prizes at the Salieri Competition in Italy and the Concours Riviera in Vevey. Since 2023, he has been Concert Master of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, performing in European venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salzburg Festival, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Musikverein Vienna and Konzerthaus Berlin. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at HEMU in Lausanne and will continue his studies in Zurich with Alexander Sitkovetsky. He makes his Royal Opera debut in Anna Netrebko's solo recital in the 2025/26 Season.
