Biography

Born in Yerevan, he studied at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and Yerevan State Conservatory. Roles for The Royal Opera include Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Alfredo (La traviata), Nemorino (L’Elisir d’amore) and Lensky (Eugene Onegin). Other appearances include Alfredo (Semperoper Dresden, Zurich Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Bolshoi Theatre, Opera Australia, Staatsoper Hamburg, Berlin State Opera), Duke of Mantua (Seattle Opera, OA, Dresden, Cologne, Zurich), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Dresden), Chevalier des Grieux in Manon (Yerevan, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre), Lensky (Opéra national du Rhin), Rodolfo in La bohème (Frankfurt Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Toulouse), Vaudemont in Iolanta with the Berlin Philharmonic and Faust (Teatro Colón). Awards include Second Prize in the Maria Biesu International Singing Competition and the III Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest, Golden Mask for Best Opera Actor, Onegin National Opera Award, Artavazd National Theater Award and Swallow Music Award. Engagements for 2025/26 include Il barbiere di Siviglia (Vienna), Rigoletto (Zurich) and La traviata (Den Norske Opera and Ballet, Metropolitan Opera).
