Biography

Cuban-American soprano Lisette Oropesa’s roles for The Royal Opera include the title roles in Alcina and Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda (Rigoletto) and Violetta (La traviata). She began her career at the Metropolitan Opera with roles including Violetta, Gilda, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Massenet’s Manon. Engagements elsewhere include Violetta (Teatro Real, Madrid, Liceu, Barcelona, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Arena di Verona, Bayerische Staatsoper, Vienna State Opera), Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Vienna, Munich, Paris Opera), Gilda (Dutch National Opera, Rome, Los Angeles Opera, Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Verona), Lucia (Milan, Madrid, Vienna, Zurich), Marguerite in Les Huguenots, Elvira in I puritani  and Cleopatra (Paris) and Giuletta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi  (Milan).  Recordings include Ombra Compagna (2021), La traviata (2022), French Bel Canto Arias (2022), Mis amores son las flores (2023) and I puritani (2024). Engagements for 2025/26 include I masnadieri (Munich, Madrid), Maria Stuarda (Salzburg), Manon (Zurich Opera), Juliette (Berlin), I puritani and La traviata (New York) and Norma (Savonlinna).
