Biography

Italian baritone, actor, theatre and opera director Luca Micheletti studied literature and theatre in Milan and Venice and has a PhD in Italianistics from La Sapienza University, Rome. Opera roles include Mozart’s Figaro (Ravenna Festival, La Scala, Milan, Maggio Musicale, Florence), Don Giovanni (Opera Australia, Turin, Palermo, Florence), Guido di Monforte in I vespri siciliani (Milan), Macbeth (Tokyo), Rigoletto (Florence, Verona), Count di Luna in Il trovatore (La Fenice, Venice), Escamillo in Carmen (Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Ravenna Festival, Verona, Rome), Iago (Ravenna Festival, Piacenza, Modena, Reggio Emilia), Renato in Un ballo in maschera (Turin), and Marcello (Rome, Milan, Verona). Previous roles for The Royal Opera include Don Giovanni, Rodrigo (Don Carlo), and Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro). Engagements for 2024/25 included Marcello (Metropolitan Opera), Iago in Otello (Venice), Ford in Falstaff and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) in Milan and Germont in La traviata (Geneva, Rome). Engagements for 2025/26 include Macbeth (Turin, Liège), Escamillo in Carmen (Teatro Real, Madrid), Don Giovanni (Tokyo) and, as director, Simon Boccanegra in Venice.
