Biography
Born in North Carolina, Lucas Meachem studied music at Appalachian State University, the Eastman School of Music and Yale University before becoming an Adler Fellow with the San Francisco Opera. He performs internationally, with recent engagements including performances at Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Dallas Opera, La Scala, Milan, Vienna State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival and Paris Opera. Awards include a Grammy and the inaugural Emerging Star of the Year Award at San Francisco Opera. 2025/26 highlights included Zurga (Les pêcheurs de perles) at Maggio Musicale, Florence, Marcello (La bohème) and Germont (La traviata) at the Metropolitan Opera, Escamillo at Teatro Real, Madrid, Don Giovanni at Semperoper Dresden, Germont at Opéra de Bordeaux and Scarpia at Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa. He also made his role debut as Ford (Falstaff) at the Liceu, Barcelona and appeared in recital with pianist Irina Meachem. His previous roles for The Royal Opera include Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Marcello, Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro).
