Soprano

Biography

Swedish soprano Maria Bengtsson studied at Freiburg University of Music and is a former ensemble member of the Volksoper Vienna (2000-02) and the Komische Oper Berlin (2002-07). 2025/26 highlights include a staged production of Four Last Songs in Baden-Baden, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, a Nobel Prize gala in Stockholm and New Year’s concerts in Malmö. Recent highlights include the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Munich Opera Festival, Christine (Intermezzo) at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Daphne in Frankfurt, the Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) at Grand Théâtre de Genève, Dutch National Opera and Frankfurt and Countess (Capriccio) for Vienna State Opera. Other roles include Blanche (Les dialogues des Carmélites) in Frankfurt, Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) in Paris and at Teatro Real Madrid, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) in Hamburg and Naples and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at Berlin State Opera. Her previous Royal Opera roles include the Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Donna Anna and Ellen Orford.
