Marie-Astrid Mence, born in Paris, trained at the Higher National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris and as a scholarship student at the Alvin Ailey School, New York. She danced with Ballet Black (2014–2021) and Phoenix Dance Theatre (2015), touring the UK and Europe, and was named Dancer of the Month in February 2016. Stage credits include Oklahoma! (Young Vic, Wyndham’s Theatre). Screen appearances include Disney’s Find Me in Paris, L’Opéra, Spellbound, Netflix’s Queen Charlotte, and her self-written short film The Truth of Being a Black Ballerina. She teaches and coaches ballet for prestigious UK companies and schools.
