Born in Marseille, Marie-Chrstine Soma studied philosophy and classical literature before turning to lighting design in 1985, thanks to Henri Alekan. She has collaborated with numerous creatives including Marie Vayssière, Éric Vigner, Éléonore Weber, Benjamin Porée and Salia Sanou. Lighting for exhibitions and shows includes Il etait une fois la fete foraine (1995) and Le Jardin planetaire (1999). She worked at the National School of Theater Arts and Techniques (2004–2016). With Daniel Jeanneteau, with whom she began a long-term collaboration in 2001, she has co-created productions including Le Nain de Zemlinsky (National Theater of Strasbourg) and Pelleas et Melisande (Opera de Lille). In 2016 she became an associate professor at the University of Paris 10 - Nanterre. Recent highlights include adapting and directing La Pomme dans le noir at the MC93, Bobigny (2017) and La Septieme after Tristan Garcia (2022). In 2022 she also took over direction of the staging department of the ENSATT with Guillaume Leveque.
