Prudenskaya studied child psychology at St Petersburg State University and singing at the St Petersburg Conservatory. She began her opera career at the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, where roles included Bradamante (Alcina), Clytemnestre (Iphigenie en Aulide), Adalgisa (Norma), Fenena (Nabucco), Amneris (Aida), Carmen, Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) for Stuttgart State Opera, Eboli (Don Carlos), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), Venus (Tannhauser), Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride), Marie (Wozzeck) and Mother Goose (The Rake’s Progress) for Berlin Staatsoper, Erda (Der Ring des Nibelungen) for Dutch National Opera, Ulrica for the Mariinsky Theatre, Waltraute and Second Norn (Götterdämmerung) and Lyubasha for La Scala, Milan, Azucena for the Vienna Festival and Cologne Opera, Fricka and Waltraute (Der Ring des Nibelungen) for the Bayreuth Festival, Kundry and Eboli for Paris Opera, Herodias for Vienna State Opera, Eboli for Semperoper Dresden and Amneris in Beijing. Recordings include Verdi’s Requiem under Mariss Jansons.
