Olivier award-winning conductor Mark Wigglesworth made his Royal Opera debut in 2002. Engagements with the House since have included Die Meistersinger, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, From the House of the Dead and La clemenza di Tito. He has enjoyed long relationships with English National Opera (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Così fan tutte, Falstaff, Káťa Kabanová, Parsifal, The Force of Destiny, The Magic Flute, Jenůfa, Don Giovanni and Lulu) and the Metropolitan Opera (The Marriage of Figaro, Orfeo) as well as Paris Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Semperoper Dresden and Teatro Real, Madrid. Concert engagements include performances with Berlin Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw, Czech Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Boston SO, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago SO, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Tokyo SO and the Sydney SO. He has written articles for The Guardian, The Independent, The Stage and The Evening Standard and his book The Silent Musician, published by Faber and Faber in 2018, has been translated into Spanish and Chinese.
