Biography

Maltese mezzo-soprano Marvic Monreal is a former member of the Opera Studio of Frankfurt where her roles included Martha (Iolanta), Lucia (La gazza ladra), The Deaconess (Król Roger), La Maestra delle Novicie (Suor Angelica) and Olga (Eugene Onegin). During her time at the Royal Academy Opera, Monreal performed Carmen (La tragédie de Carmen), Older Woman (Flight), Mrs Peachum (Die Dreigroschenoper), Venus (Orphée aux enfers) and Bradamante (Alcina). Additional roles include Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Mercedes (Carmen) and Daniel (Belshazar) in Malta, Tisbe (La Cenerentola) for the New Generation Festival, Maddalena (Rigoletto) in Vilnius and Erste Norn (Götterdämmerung), Erda (Siegfried) and Schwertleite (Die Walküre) under the direction of Brigitte Fassbaender at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. In concert, she has sung Mahler’s Symphony No.2 under Semyon Bychkov at the Royal Festival Hall, Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 at the Europe Day Concert, Malta, Verdi’s Requiem in Malta and Handel’s Messiah at Valletta Baroque Festival.
