Biography

Scottish tenor Michael Gibson was part of the Jette Parker Artists Programme for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. Roles in the 2023/24 Season included Borsa (Rigoletto), Young Servant (Elektra), Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Pong (Turandot) for The Royal Opera 2024 tour of Japan. In the 2022/23 Season, mainstage roles included Heinrich (Tannhäuser), Pong (Turandot), Conte di Lerma (Don Carlo), Gastone (La traviata) and Ruiz (Il trovatore) and in the Linbury Theatre: Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) and Varo (Arminio). Gibson is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal College of Music Opera Studio. He has performed as a soloist with both the London Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra, and is a Making Music, Phillip and Dorothy Green Young Artist (2021-23). Gibson has participated in masterclasses with artists including Thomas Allen, Lisette Oropesa and Antonio Pappano. 2024/25 Season highlights include Jaquino (Fidelio) and Pong (Turandot) at the Royal Opera House.
