Biography
Chinese tenor Mingjie Lei has a Bachelor's of Music from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, a Master's of Music in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music and an Artist Diploma in Opera from the Curtis Institute. He is a former member of the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago and a former member of the Staatstheater Stuttgart ensemble. He is a Prize Winner of the Neue Stimmen International Vocal Competition and the ARD International Music Competition and Winner of the Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Engagements for 2025/26 include Tamino (The Magic Flute) at Opéra de Lille with Emmanuelle Häim and a return to the Salzburg Festival for a new production.
