Biography
Canadian conductor Naomi Woo holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, and studied Mathematics, Philosophy and Music at Yale University and Université de Montréal. She is currently the Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Formerly Music Director of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (2024–25), she has appeared with orchestras including Toronto Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Montréal Symphony, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and Orchestre de Chambre de Luxembourg. Operatic engagements include the Canadian premiere of Du Yun’s Angel’s Bone in Vancouver, Edgar with Opera Holland Park, La Cenerentola with English Touring Opera and the world premiere of Ellis Ludwig-Leone’s The Night Falls in New York. Engagements for 2025/26 include debuts with the New York Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic and Royal Northern Sinfonia, returns to orchestras across Canada and the US, and the world premiere of Oliver Leith’s Garland at Bold Tendencies in London. She makes her debut with The Royal Opera in the 2025/26 Season with Last Days.
