Biography
Maltese tenor Nico Darmanin made his Royal Opera debut in Les vêpres siciliennes, conducted by Antonio Pappano. A Cardiff Singer of the World finalist and Austrian Music Theatre Award nominee, his recent highlights include Tonio in La Fille du régiment (Grange Park Opera), Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro La Fenice, Welsh National Opera, Teatro Regio Torino), Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola (Scottish Opera, The Grange Festival), and Alfredo (La traviata), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) across leading European houses. His performance as Alberto in La Gazzetta (Salzburg Landestheater) garnered his Austrian award nomination. On the concert stage, Nico has performed across Europe and North America and appears on recordings including Robert le Diable and Fausto. 2026/27 Season highlights include Don Ramiro at Teatro Regio Torino, Fenton (Falstaff) for Polish National Opera and Almaviva and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) for Grange Park Opera.
