Slovakian baritone Pavol Kubáň began his training in his home country, followed by studies in Bologna. He is member of the ensemble of the National Theatre in Prague, where his roles have included Jupiter (Platée), Valentin (Faust) and the title role in The Charlatan by Pavel Haas. His repertoire includes the principal baritone roles in operas by Mozart, Rossini, Puccini, Donizetti and Rachmaninov. Recent role debuts include Jaufré Rudel in Kaija Saariaho's L'amour de loin (Brno), Robert in Iolanta and Zurga in Les pêcheurs de perles (Liberec Opera). In Brno, he also sang the role of Šiškov (From the House of the Dead). Guest performances elsewhere have taken him to Germany, Italy and Switzerland. He has been awarded prizes at numerous competitions, including the Hans Gabor Singing Competition and the International Music Competition in Montreal. He makes his debut with The Royal Opera in the 2025/26 Season as a soloist in The Spectre's Bride, as part of Jakub Hrůša and Friends in Concert.
