Born in Hertfordshire, and of German Austrian parentage, Peter Bronder studied at the Royal Academy of Music and National Opera Studio before debuting as principal tenor at Glyndebourne and Welsh National Opera. He has since become associated with dramatic German repertoire, with roles including Mime (Siegfried) at La Scala, Staatsoper Berlin, Barcelona, Palermo and Bergen, and Herod (Salome) in Milan, Madrid, Frankfurt, Turin, São Paolo and Hong Kong. His UK appearances include performances at ENO, Opera North and Scottish Opera, and international engagements include Teatro Real, Madrid, Bregenz Festival, Netherlands Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, La Monnaie, San Francisco Opera and Opéra de Paris, where he returns in the 2025/26 Season as Triquet (Eugene Onegin). Equally active in concert, he has worked with Barenboim, Haitink, Pappano, Levine and Petrenko. He records for Decca, EMI, Philips and Chandos. Previous roles for The Royal Opera include Don Curzo (The Marriage of Figaro) and Monostatos (The Magic Flute).
