Roles elsewhere include Alwa (Lulu), Herod (Salome), Laca (Jenůfa), Bacchus and Tito for Welsh National Opera, Laca, Zinovy (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Faust (The Damnation of Faust), Hermann (Queen of Spades) and Orpheus Man (The Mask of Orpheus) for English National Opera, Šapkin for Paris Opera, La Monnaie, Brussels, Staatsoper Berlin, Metropolitan Opera and La Scala, Milan, Captain Vere (Billy Budd) for Norwegian Opera, Sharikov (A Dog's Heart) for Milan and Hauptmann for the Metropolitan Opera. Recent appearances include Der Bucklige (Die Frau ohne Schatten) for Baden-Baden Festival, Vitek (Vec Makropulos) for Staatsoper Berlin and Malmö Opera, Aegisth (Elektra), Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Pong (Turandot) and Herod for Staatsoper Hamburg and Matej Brouček (The Excursions of Mr Brouček) for Grange Park Opera and Berlin State Opera.
