British tenor Peter Hoare made his debut with The Royal Opera in 1996. Notable appearances since have included Mortimer (Lessons in Love and Violence world premiere), Larry King (Anna Nicole world premiere), Šapkin (From the House of the Dead), Monostatos (The Magic Flute), Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor), Dr Caius (Falstaff), Fatty (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) and Hauptmann (Wozzeck). Roles elsewhere include Alwa (Lulu), Herod (Salome), Laca (Jenůfa), Bacchus and Tito for Welsh National Opera, Laca, Zinovy (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Faust (The Damnation of Faust), Hermann (Queen of Spades) and Orpheus Man (The Mask of Orpheus) for English National Opera, Šapkin for Paris Opera, La Monnaie, Brussels, Staatsoper Berlin, Metropolitan Opera and La Scala, Milan, Captain Vere (Billy Budd) for Norwegian Opera, Sharikov (A Dog's Heart) for Milan and Hauptmann for the Metropolitan Opera.
