Biography

Soprano Philippa Boyle studied at Clare College, University of Cambridge and the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia. She was a member of the Santa Cecilia Opera Studio in Rome, is a former Nevill Holt Opera Young Artist and has done outreach work for Opera Holland Park. Notable engagements include the title role in Jenůfa, Elisabetta de Valois (Don Carlo) and the title role in Kát’a Kabanová for Fulham Opera, La Chouette (L’enfant et les sortilèges) with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Mum (Greek) for Grimeborn Opera Festival, Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Elizabeth (Maria Stuarda) for Opera Up Close, the title role in Tosca for King’s Head Theatre, Cathleen (Riders To The Sea) for the Wexford Festival, Alice Ford (Falstaff) for Woodhouse Opera and Giorgetta (Il tabarro) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) for Opera Vera. Concert engagements include Mahler’s Symphony no.2 at Blackheath Halls London, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at the Winchester Cathedral and Mozart’s Requiem with the National Symphony Orchestra. Awards include First Prize in the Emmy Destinn Young Singer Award for Czech opera and song.
