Biography

Belgian baritone Pierre Doyen graduated from the Conservatoire de Liège in 2002, later completing his training at the International Opera School of the Royal College of Music. He began his career at the Opera Studio at La Monnaie, Brussels, where his roles included Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Albert (Werther), Escamillo (Carmen) and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia). Recent engagements include Ping (Turandot) at Opéra de Dijon, Frédéric (Lakmé) at NCPA Beijing, Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Escamillo in Hong Kong and at Opéra Royal de Wallonie, and Brétigny (Manon) at Paris Opera. 2024/25 highilights included Moralès in Carmen at La Monnaie in Brussels and at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli. 2025/26 highlights include Hortensius in La Fille du régiment and Dancaïre in Carmen at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Dr Falke (Die Fledermaus) in Liège and Marquis de la Force (Les Dialogues des Carmélites) at Opéra de Lausanne. His previous roles for The Royal Opera include Dancaïro (Carmen).
