Biography

Richard Fu joined the Jette Parker Artists Programme in the 2024/25 Season. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, University of Oxford, the Juilliard School and studied Lied accompaniment with Julius Drake in Graz. He and duo partner Anja Mittermüller won the Wigmore Song Competition and will perform two recitals in Wigmore Hall in 2025/26. Fu collaborates frequently with cellist Zlatomir Fung, with whom he recorded his debut album, and has toured the US with violinist Timothy Chooi, performing 30 concerts. He has received fellowships from Tanglewood, Aspen, Music Academy of the West and Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, and has attended masterclasses with Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti, Renée Fleming, Thomas Hampson and Maxim Vengerov. As a former member of the Vienna State Opera Opernstudio, he played rehearsals and orchestral keyboards for La traviata, Tosca, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Roméo et Juliette and The Tempest. His 2024/25 Royal Opera engagements include Eugene Onegin, The Tales of Hoffmann, Hansel and Gretel, Aida, Pimpinone and Carmen. In the 2025/26 Season, he is on the music staff for Tosca, Turandot, Siegfried and I puritani, and is the assistant conductor for the JPAP chamber productions of The Departure, Making Arrangements and Four Sisters.
