Biography

English mezzo-soprano Rosie Aldridge was a member of the ensemble of Vienna State Opera (2016–18). Her recent operatic engagements include Kundry (Parsifal) for Staatsoper Stuttgart, Mrs Lovett (Sweeney Todd) for the Komische Oper Berlin, Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle) for the Opéra national de Lorraine, Kostelnička (Jenůfa) for Staatsoper Stuttgart, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, National Theatre Prague and Berlin Staatsoper, Kabanicha (Kát’a Kabanová) for Liceu, Barcelona, The Witch (Hansel and Gretel) for Staatsoper Stuttgart, Mrs Sedley (Peter Grimes) for Teatro Real, Madrid, Royal Danish Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg and Opera National de Paris and Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress) for the Glyndebourne Festival. Previous roles for The Royal Opera include Else (Festen), Witch (Hansel and Gretel), Praskovya Osipovna/Vendor, Mrs Sedley, Margret (Wozzeck), Aksinya, Angrboda (The Monstrous Child) and Russian Nanny/Beggar Woman (Death in Venice). Engagements for 2025/26 include The Witch and The Mother (Hansel and Gretel) for Opernhaus Zurich; Kabanicha (Káťa Kabanová) for Deutsche Oper am Rhein; Mrs Grose (Turn of the Screw) for Staatsoper Berlin; Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) for Scottish Opera and The Widow Begbick (The Rise and Fall of the City of the Mahagonny) for English National Opera. In the 2025/26 Royal Opera Season she sings Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro.
