Ben Baur
Biography
Ben Baur studied Staging and Costume Design at the Berlin Academy of Art and Stage Design. He has designed productions for Deutsches Theater, Munich Volkstheater, Vienna Burgtheater and Maxim Gorki Theatre, among others. Opera set designs include Le nozze di Figaro (Augsburg), Alcina (Semperoper Dresden), Faust, La verità in cimento and Il turco in Italia (Zurich Opera), Der Rosenkavalier (Dutch National Opera) for Jan Philipp Gloger, Nabucco (Stuttgart, Welsh National Opera, Savonlinna) for Rudolf Frey, Salome (Cologne) for Ted Huffman, Orlando Paladino, Hippolyte et Aricie and Dialogues des Carmélites (Zurich), L’Orfeo (Opéra National de Lorraine), Almira (Hamburg) and Werther (Saarbrücken) for Jetske Mijnssen. He has also directed and designed sets for Lucia di Lammermoor, Kát’a Kabanová, La traviata (Saarbrücken), Il trovatore, Roméo et Juliette (Graz), Il pirata, Faust (St Gallen), Dialogues des Carmélites (Gelsenkirchen) and Kleopatra (Royal Danish Opera).
