Biography
Stephanie Wake-Edwards studied Sociology with Social Psychology at the University of York and Opera at the Royal Academy of Music. She is a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble and is a former member of the Glyndebourne Chorus, a former Jerwood Young Artist and a former Jette Parker Young Artist. As a JPYA, her roles included Käthchen (Werther), Flora (La traviata), Anna (The Seven Deadly Sins) and Third Lady (The Magic Flute.) For Deutsche Oper Berlin she has performed the title role in Carmen, La Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims and Page in Salome. Recent other highlights include Polina in The Queen of Spades and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Garsington Opera, the latter also BBC Proms), Third Lady (English National Opera), Third Nymph in Rusalka (Bayerische Staatsoper), Ino in a new production of Semele (Glyndebourne Festival), Anna (Teatro Colón) and Javotte in Manon (Staatsoper Hamburg). She won a special award from Marc Minkowski in his Concours Bordeaux Médoc Lyrique.
