Biography
British tenor Stuart Jackson made his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as Irus (Return of Ulysses) at the Roundhouse. He studied biological sciences at Christ Church, Oxford, and singing with Ryland Davies at the Royal Academy of Music. He is a former Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival and a former member of Stuttgart Opera Studio, where roles included Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Gluck’s Orfeo. Recent engagements include Narraboth (Salome) for English National Opera, Jupiter (Semele) for Opéra de Lille, Komische Oper Berlin and Glyndebourne Festival, the title role in Mitridate, re di Ponto for Royal Danish Opera, Arnalta (Poppea) for Staatstheater Bern and Prologue and Quint (The Turn of the Screw) for Opéra national de Lorraine. Engagements for 2025/26 include covering the title role in Peter Grimes for Opera North, Arnalta for the Royal Danish Opera and returning to Garsington Opera. Concert engagements include Frank Martin’s Golgotha, Britten’s War Requiem and Serenade and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde.
