Biography
Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova was awarded First Prize in the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition in 2017 and Third Prize in Le Grand Prix de l’Opera. Following this, she sang Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) for Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur and Anthéa Theatre and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for the Bregenz Festival. She is a former soloist at Vienna State Opera (2018–20), where roles included Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Rosina, Cherubino, Rossweisse (Die Walküre) and Lola (Cavalleria rusticana). Appearances elsewhere have included Cherubino at the Elbphilharmonie, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, her role debut as Angelina (La Cenerentola) at the New Generation Festival (also Düsseldorf, Athens and Riga), Rosina, Cherubino, Dryade and Zulma (L’italiana in Algeri) at La Scala, Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri) with Ensemble Meatheus, Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette) at Theater an der Wien and Zurich Opera and Sesto (Giulio Cesare) and Ruggiero (Alcina) at the Glyndebourne Festival. Engagements for 2025/26 include Hänsel in a new production of Hänsel und Gretel at Zurich Opera and Wellgunde in a new production of Der Ring des Nibelungen by David McVicar at La Scala. She makes her debut with The Royal Opera in the 2025/26 Season as Cherubino.
