Biography
Thomas Guthrie’s directing credits include Aida (Liceu, Barcelona), Semele (Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Rome, London), Theodora (Lima, Buenos Aires, Sau Paulo, Montevideo, Paris, London), David Lang’s Public Domain (LSO), Dido and Aeneas (Barbican), Il barbiere di Siviglia and The Fairy Queen (English Touring Opera), Dove’s Monster in the Maze (UK premiere, LSO), L’Orfeo (London, Princeton University, where he was a Visiting Fellow in 2018), Der fliegende Holländer, Die Zauberflöte and Le nozze di Figaro (Longborough Festival Opera), Lucia di Lammermoor (IF Opera), Constanze and Robinson Crusoe (West Green Opera), and the world premieres of Our Street and Dancing in the Mirror in South London. As a Jette Parker Artist (2007–9), his directing credits included Donizetti’s Rita and Walton’s The Bear. He has staged Ludd and Isis and Hot House for ROH Learning and Participation and has revived Il barbiere di Siviglia, Andrea Chénier (Beijing), Die Zauberflöte and Le nozze di Figaro for The Royal Opera.
