Biography

Thyrza Coenraad is a social designer working at the intersection of theatre, spatial design and social change. She designs not for people but with them, her practice using performance techniques as a methodology for grounded transformation in public space. Through immersive theatre experiences, audiovisual exhibitions and participatory installations – developed under her own name and her studio puntCO – she brings the spatial poetry of theatre beyond the stage and into everyday life. Moving along the fine line between scenography, participation, light and sound art, artistic research and coaching, her work engages communities around themes such as gentrification, public cleaning, food culture and empowerment.
