Tim Qualtrough
Biography
Pianist Tim Qualtrough is on the music staff of The Royal Ballet. Born in Shropshire, he gained a BMus Honours degree at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and then a ‘Certificate of Advanced Study’ training as an opera repetiteur at the RCM. Working at the RAD and the Royal Ballet Upper School, he then joined the music staff of the Royal Ballet in 1993, performing the same year for Irek Mukhamedov and Company. His repertory includes Ashley Page’s ‘Fearful Symmetries, ‘….now langnorous, now wild’, ‘Sawdust and Tinsel’ (Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos) and the Pas de Deux (2nd Movement’) from Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s ‘Concerto’. He has also played for the Royal Ballet’s World Ballet Day live streamed company class and rehearsals, and for the Royal Ballet Company Class, performed on the main stage.
