Vicki Mortimer designs sets and costumes for theatre, ballet and opera in the UK and internationally. Recent work includes Jocasta’s Line for Wayne McGregor at Norwegian Opera and Ballet (2025) and Nye (scenery) for the National Theatre (2024/5). Other theatre includes GOOD and Medea in the West End, Wuthering Heights for Wise Children, Bristol Old Vic, NT and UK Tour and Anna, Follies (Critics’ Circle Award for Design and Olivier Award for Best Costume Design 2018), The Threepenny Opera, Here We Go, The Silver Tassie, Othello, Hamlet, Waves, The Cat in the Hat, Three Sisters, The Seagull, Closer, The Normal Heart (scenery) and The Visit (scenery) for NT. Opera includes Death in Venice, Lessons in Love and Violence and Lucia di Lammermoor for the Royal Opera House (also tour), Written on Skin for the Aix-en-Provence Festival (also tour), Al gran sole carico d’amore for the Salzburg Festival and Staatsoper Berlin and Wozzeck for Lyric Opera of Chicago (International Opera Award 2015). She is a founding member of Freelancers Make Theatre Work, a grassroots organisation supporting greater recognition and improved conditions for the freelance workforce across theatre and live performance.
