British bass William Thomas studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and is a former English National Opera Harewood Artist and BBC New Generation Artist. He is the winner of the 2019 Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, the 2018 Kathleen Ferrier Award and the 2018 John Christie Award. Recent engagements include appearances at La Scala, Milan, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper and the Glyndebourne Festival. Concert engagements have taken him to the BBC Proms, the Edinburgh Festival and Carnegie Hall. At the Salzburg Festival he has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic under Muti, with Camerata Salzburg under Manfred Honeck and with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra under Dinis Sousa. Other recent engagements have included the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks with Ticciati, the Hallé Orchestra with Elder and the LSO with Pappano. Engagements for 2025/26 include Ormonte (Partenope) for English National Opera and Mr Flint (Billy Budd) for the Glyndebourne Festival.
