Background
Treat yourself or a loved one this festive season with an exclusive experience exploring the worlds of beauty, ballet and backstage artistry.
Begin with a guided tour of the Royal Opera House, offering rare access to backstage spaces and hidden corners not usually included on our public tours. Inspired by conversations with dancers from The Royal Ballet, follow the journey from morning class and rehearsal to the final moments before curtain-up, and discover the routines, preparation and attention to detail behind life on stage.
Along the way, explore what it takes to look and feel performance-ready. From costumes and accessories to beauty, wellbeing and self-expression, discover the personal rituals and expert craftsmanship that bring each performance together, revealing traditions, creative processes and finishing touches audiences rarely get to see.
After your tour, enjoy an elegant, beauty-inspired afternoon tea in the Royal Opera House Balconies restaurant, accompanied by a complimentary L’Oréal Paris gift – a fitting finale to an afternoon celebrating beauty and ballet.
Available on a limited number of dates, this special seasonal experience offers a chance to discover ballet from an entirely new perspective.

Access
This tour takes you through different areas of the Royal Opera House, including long corridors, stairs, escalators and lifts. The flooring is also different depending on where you are in the building – some floors are smooth and tiled or wooden, some are carpeted.
Because we are a working theatre, there are areas that won’t always be available to us, which means each tour will take a different route. Our tour guides use descriptive language which helps to paint a picture for blind and partially sighted visitors.
Join our Access Scheme or contact tours@roh.org.uk after booking to let us know your access requirements so we can make sure you have the best experience on your visit. We can help plan the tour if you require step-free and wheelchair access, if you prefer to avoid areas with views from a height, if you need to use the hearing loop or if you need to take regular breaks. Unfortunately, our hearing loops aren't compatible with Bluetooth.
See our Accessibility page for more information, view our visitors guide (PDF, 12.0 MB) or watch a subtitled guide to The Royal Opera House on YouTube.
