Paris Opera Junior Ballet was created in 2024 as an incubator for young talent. The company consists of nine female and nine male dancers aged 17 to 23. The company trains and performs alongside the historic Paris Opera Ballet.
They make their Linbury Theatre debut in this Season’s Next Generation Festival.
Opening their programme is George Balanchine’s work of highly-charged virtuosic Romanticism, Allegro Brilliante. Maurice Béjart’s Cantata 51 follows, a joyful work inspired by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The programme continues with Jacques Garner’s Aunis, a male trio inspired by the regional dances and traditional music from the historical French region of Aunis and its capital La Rochelle, and concludes with Mi Favourita by Paris Opera Ballet Dance Director José Martinez. The work pays tribute to the many pioneers of ballet that have come before him.
Next Generation Festival takes place in The Linbury Theatre and Clore Studio.
