Exciting British mezzo-soprano Stephanie Wake-Edwards plays a modern-day Ariadne in this cantata for voice and piano of Arianna a Naxos by Joseph Haydn. From an abandoned warehouse hideout, she reflects on her escape from her family and her abandonment by her lover Theseus. She is traumatised by Theseus’s inadvertent murder of her own brother and needs to decide what to do next.
