Background

ZooNation Youth Company (ZYC) brings energy, skill and creativity to UK stages. From West End productions of Into the Hoods to performing at the 2012 London Olympics, ZYC showcases top young Hip Hop talent. Founded in 2002 by Kate Prince, ZooNation is renowned for full-length narrative dance productions inspired by Hip Hop, alongside programmes developing young artists in their distinctive dance-theatre style.

For Next Generation Festival, they present 1776, a collaboration between Memphis Jookin' pioneer Lil Buck and ZYC’s Artistic Director Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe, and Lecointe’s Offline, a co-creation between the choreographer and dancers of ZYC.

1776 is a A Schwarzman Centre, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company and The Lil Buck Foundation co-production, featuring young dancers from Memphis, ZooNation Youth Company and Body Politic.
