Fabiana Piccioli
Biography
Italian lighting designer Fabiana Piccioli trained and performed as a dancer, before joining Akram Khan Company as Technical Director and Lighting Designer (2005–13). Her opera lighting credits include Tosca, Semele, Jephtha and Rigoletto (The Royal Opera), Alice’s Adventures Under Ground (Royal Opera, Irish National Opera), Don Giovanni (Greek National Opera), The Handmaid’s Tale (Royal Danish Opera), The Indian Queen (Lille Opera), Eugene Onegin (Scottish Opera, Opéra national du Rhin), Powder Her Face (INO) and Le nozze di Figaro (La Scala, Milan). Theatre work includes Les Démons and Médée (Comédie Française), Invisible Cities (Manchester International Festival) and Ophelias Zimmer (Schaubühne Berlin, Royal Court). She has also designed lighting and sets for Paris Opera Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders, English National Ballet, Rambert, Ballets de Monte-Carlo, and Aakash Odedra Company, and has worked with choreographers Kim Brandstrup, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Carlos Acosta, and directors Romeo Castellucci and Katie Mitchell. She has won three Knight of Illumination Awards, and one Danza & Danza Award.
