Biography
Nicky Gillibrand’s work for the Royal Opera House includes Festen, Giant, Samson et Dalila, Boris Godunov, Wozzeck, Il trittico, Anna Nicole, L’heure espagnole/Gianni Schicchi and Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. Other credits include designs for The Dead City, Don Giovanni, The Girl of the Golden West and The Magic Flute (English National Opera), La damnation de Faust, Cendrillon, The Rape of Lucretia and Der Rosenkavalier (Glyndebourne), La traviata, Hansel and Gretel and Wozzeck (Opera North) and Die Zauberflöte (Aix-en-Provence Festival). Theatre work includes Machinal (Old Vic, Theatre Royal Bath), Once in a Lifetime, The Trial, Public Enemy and The Government Inspector (Young Vic), Spring Awakening and Twilight Zone (Almeida), Billy Elliot (West End, Broadway, worldwide), The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Royal Shakespeare Company) and Angels in America (also Broadway), Land of the Living, Everyman, Absolute Hell and The Seagull (National Theatre). Awards include the Gold Medal for Costume Design at the 2003 Prague Quadrennial (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, RSC).
